The UNASIS Portable Install/Remove Tool is used with a chamfered bearing, v-groove bearing, or sleeve. It has two important functions:
- Install the Bearing: Safely and accurately drift the bearing into the housing prior to swaging.
- Remove the Bearing: Extracting the bearing from the housing after cutting.
Situations where the bearing has an interference fit with the housing ensures that it is impossible to install the bearing within the housing without a tool’s support. An unprecise attempt at installing the bearing can create an indentation into the housing, which could potentially damage it beyond repair. The use of a precision drifting tool will make sure there is complete repeatability throughout the bearing installation process. Sliding the bearing into the housing is possible if the bearing has a clearance fit within the housing,
Following the bearing being cut, it is essential that a tool is utilised to safely and securely remove the bearing. The removal element of the install/remove tool has a pusher, which allows the cut-v groove to fold into itself without impacting the housing. The bearings out of the housing is then accepted using the receiver cup.
